HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE
Posted September 25, 2024
NOAA forecasts that Hurricane Helene will make landfall along the Florida panhandle as a major hurricane on Thursday. We wish all of you the best, and our team is standing by if you should incur a loss as a result of the storm. To file a claim, please call or email your agent directly or contact us. You can also file a claim through our website. Remember, for those insureds with hurricane or tropical storm coverage, these trigger automatically based on NOAA data and are processed immediately when RMA releases the weather data. If a Hurricane Insurance Protection (HIP) payment is triggered, the full value of the hurricane protection amount is paid out. If a tropical storm payment triggers, you will receive 50% of your hurricane protection amount. HURRICANE INSURANCE PROTECTION COVERAGE (Click link to view and download) Hurricane Trigger - NOAA data determines sustained hurricane-force winds in your or an adjacent county Tropical Storm Trigger - NOAA data, named storm, sustained wind speeds of 39 mph or greater, 6 inches of precipitation or greater over four consecutive days (one day before the arrival of the tropical storm, the day of the arrival of the tropical storm, and two days following the arrival of the tropical storm, in your or an adjacent county) *HIP-WI & TS CLAIM SETTLEMENT* An indemnity is payable when a county loss trigger is identified for the insured or an adjacent county. Only one indemnity payment is allowed per insurance period or per planting period. Under the Tropical Storm (TS) option, an indemnity becomes payable when the TS county loss trigger is met. This indemnity will amount to 50% of the Hurricane Protection Amount (HPA). If the TS option is selected, up to two indemnities may be paid, but the total combined indemnities cannot exceed 100% of the HPA.
